The Proposal :: PPL Photography
Jun 17th
This was by far our most interesting shoot yet. We were contacted by David during the busy April exam period requesting us to immediately capture live his proposal to his girlfriend. Against our own crazy student attitude, we decided to take the job because it sounded like a once in a lifetime opportunity to actually be a part of one of someone’s most precious memories, rather than just photographing them after the fact!
Here’s how it went down: We spoke to David over the phone who had decided to propose on the Beaches in Toronto. He had seen the area, scoped out a little alcove where he planned on proposing, and sent us camera phone photos so that we would know where to position ourselves. The plan was that on the day of his proposal, we were to situtate ourselves around the alcove and pretend to be random photographers who were randomly shooting couples that walked by in the name of ”building a portfolio”. We would ask them to pose for us, and while taking a few photos, David would exclaim “I like them! How about a different pose?!”. In that moment he would take her hand, get down on one knee, and work his magic! All the meanwhile, we would be capturing the special moment and she would be so overwhelmed by his proposal that she would, hopefully, not even notice us!
So on the big day, our fingers were crossed that everything would happen as we had all so intricately envisioned! It was a definite success, and after she said “Yes!” and they embraced, she then realized how much of a set up the entire thing was! Very cute. With two photographers, we were able to capture the entire moment from multiple angles. Great success. Here’s a sample of the photos I shot on their special day!
And of course, the ring!
